Earn a certificate that demonstrates your knowledge of utility safety – both natural gas and electrical
Developed with the assistance of local fire-fighting professionals, National Grid offers a self-directed, interactive online training package that provides emergency response personnel with the information they need to safely identify and respond to incidents that may involve natural gas pipelines, electric power lines and other utility facilities. This program also covers solar photovoltaic (PV) system safety.
This entirely web-based e-learning program for first responders includes a series of educational modules that you can complete at your own pace. These are followed by online interactive quizzes that test your understanding of the training material.
Successfully complete the online training and receive your personalized Certificate of Completion, which may satisfy additional training hours required by your department.
The natural gas safety modules include:
- Module 1: Gas distribution system
- Module 2: Properties and characteristics of natural gas
- Module 3: Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Module 4: Gas incident management
- Module 5: Additional potential hazards and response tactics
- Module 6: Liquefied natural gas (LNG)
- Module 7: LNG transport
The electrical safety modules include:
- Module 1: Electrical safety basics
- Module 2: Electric distribution system
- Module 3: Fires involving electrical facilities
- Module 4: Downed power lines
- Module 5: Solar power: Get the facts
